Art update: “Bunnies and Bows” girl

Bunnies and bows

My friend Michelle asked me recently if I'd like to contribute art to her Bunnies and Bows show in LA – and here is what I made for it! I really want the outfit I gave her… haha – the shoes too! Fashion dreaming through drawing.

A framed metallic print will be for sale at the show, and I'll also be doing a limited run of giclee prints for sale on my etsy… I'll post more about that in a few days!

Bunnies and Bows sketches!

I planned most of this out last week – It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do, but the fun part is it left me with a lot of sketches to share! The sketch on the upper right with the giant carrot was my favorite, but it didn't fit well with the paper size I wanted so I decided to save it for another day.

I think these were the worst ideas of the bunch… but it's always good to get that sort of stuff out of your system while working.

Just when I was getting frustrated on ideas, I decided to doodle a retro playboy bunny and give my brain a break… and then after that I finally came up with the idea I wanted to do!

While I was working on all of this, I was trying to capture a feeling of Playboy Bunnies from the 60's and Pin-up Girls mixed with Lady Lovely Locks from the 80's… I really loved that toy and all her cute clip in animal hair accessories – which reminds me a bit of Michelle! Probably because of all the pastel rainbow hair colors and all the animals had little bows πŸ™‚

Bunnies and Bows show!

If you live near Los Angeles, you should come check out the show on May 7th!! You can read more about it here. Take pics and send me some… I really wish I could go but I'm not able to travel there at this time. Another day! :)

I LOVED Lady Lovely Locks and still have the VHS episodes. My favorite was Maiden Fair Hair, but it was Lady’s pixies I loved the most.

Lady Lovely Locks! When I read that, a nostalgic bell went off- but I just couldn’t remember who or what it was! Just looked it up, and while I don’t remember the dolls for some reason, I TOTALLY remember the hair clippies! Ah, the 80s were an amazing time πŸ™‚

Love your contribution to the show! Classic yet cute, I think. I heard about “Bunnies and Bows” from another contributing artist I love, Aimee Major-Steinberger, and it definitely looks like it will be awesome! Congrats on being invited to participate. πŸ™‚

That’s such a cute drawing! And it’s so funny – Bunnies and Bows (by Amy Rose) is the name of my business! : p Yay for both bunnies and bows!! Two very wonderful things!
